Secondary School VS University
School is a place for students to study. In Indonesia there are five levels of school starting from early childhood education, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, secondary school and the last is university. The discussion this time is students in secondary school. Secondary students, especially the 3rd grade secondary who will continue to the next level of university. Therefore, students who will continue to university level need to know that the secondary schools and universities are different in different fields. Such as learning method, uniform, learning system etc. So, prospective students must be ready and able to adjust quickly. When it is slow to adjust to the university system it will make it difficult for you to finish college. However, a lot of students of secondary school think that college is more comfortable. Hello lectures are not as beautiful as imagined or not as beautiful as in the movie. Therefore high school students need to know the difference between high school and college.
The first obvious difference is uniform. The uniform at university and secondary school are obviously very different. Students of a secondary school in Indonesia use uniforms and shoes should be the same, while university students wear free clothes. Do not misconceive in the universities use free clothes that do not base on the rules of universities. The meaning here is free but neat and polite.
Other areas between secondary school and the university is on learning method. In secondary school, students learn conventionally with TCL method (teacher-centered learning) this method is the teacher gives us science by way of explaining the material. Students listen to teachers, record lessons, memorize and do practice questions from teachers. Teachers as the main resource in the learning process. The teacher is active while the student is passive. But, different with universities, in university, the method applied is PBL (problem-based learning) method. PBL (problem-based learning) method makes students active. This method is the lecturer ordered to create a group, students in the group are required to solve the problem independently.
The next difference is learning system. In the secondary school, we use the lesson package system. This system is a lesson given directly in the form of a lesson package. For example in class one lesson using a package of books from publishers erlangga. The point is that students learn from the same book that has been provided by the teacher. While in the university students are required to independent, the students find their own source or reference for a subject to be studied. For that students often visit the library.
Then the differences are in the evaluation of learning. In secondary schools are usually more often held tests. Such as daily test, test after completing a chapter, midterm exam, even semester exam and odd semester exam. Sources of high school students' exams only from package books. Unlike in the university, the midterm exam and the final exam of the semester. The university exam usually covers several chapters and even sourced from some of the issues that are developing in the community and also the media can be a matter of examination.
Next is scheduled. In high school is usually full schedule of learning and schedule has been determined by the school curriculum. Students cannot choose the lesson as they want and high school students are very scheduled, for example, leave early and come home in the afternoon. While at university, students can choose the courses he wants according to the obligations and needs. Because the courses are chosen alone then the schedule was so irregular. And if the student does not enter in the morning, then the student may enter into another class with the different schedule. It is different from secondary school, if the student does not come in then the student is left behind one material.
After that is the class. In terms of class at university and at school is very different. The secondary school have a fixed class. The point is that we learn only in the classroom provided by the school and have a guardian for each class. While in university, students do not have fixed class. Each classroom is different or if not get a class then the students study anywhere.
And the final is the similarities between the secondary schools and Universities is on the purpose and several scope. Schools and universities have the goal of forming a healthy, physical and spiritual human being, possessing knowledge and skills, to develop creativity and responsibility, to develop high intelligence with a noble character, and to love nations and fellow human beings. The term of scope here only several scope that similar between secondary school and university for example teacher and student. Because students are indispensable part in an educational institution. Without students, how can an educational institution work? And without teacher how can students gain knowledge? Or how students can successfully handle with the problem they have met. We can conclude that secondary school is different with universities. Many aspects declare that secondary school and universities are different. Example; uniform, learning method, learning system etc. Although the school differs in many areas, they have similarities. So for the students of a secondary high school must be prepared to continue to the universities.           ( words: 891)
